Have I told you before that I love flowers? I love making bouqets, love playing around with them. I’m not good at keeping them alive though, they actually die really quickly when they’re under my guard. That’s the main reason I became a photographer and not a florist. But I think they are essential for every wedding. Flowers are a way to show that your wedding is a day to celibrate, to make your day more festive, to bring your color theme of the wedding to life. It is an elegant way of beautifying your day, to give your probably already amazing location that last spark.Elisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding ItalyElisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding France Chateau BouthonvilliersElisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding Italy

If you ask me, the florist is one of the most important vendors of your wedding. I can buy flowers and make a beautiful creation, but I don’t know how to make a bouquet to be preserved for an entire day. That’s not an easy job when you’re getting married on a hot summer day! I don’t know when which flowers are in season, where to get the flowers which are not in season, which flowers are expensive and which are not, and which flowers could be a nice touch added to your already chosen favorites, or good replacements if your favorites are not in season at your wedding day (there’s so much more than roses and peonies!!). That’s why I think it is so important to find a florist that knows his or her job, and even more important: fits your style.

It’s important that your florist is willing to work with you. To listen to your ideas, to come up with ideas, and to co-operate to create something in the exact style that you want. In the Netherlands, you can find many amazing florists! My favorites by far are Judith Slagter, Meesterlijk Groen and Bloemenmeisjes, and in Belgium, I will always recommend Degroote Bloemen. Check them out if you want your day to be absolutely wonderful! And yes, they will also help you with your destination wedding!
