Elisabeth Van Lent photography - Stories by Mabel

Have you heard of the ladies of Stories by Mabel? For those who haven’t: look them up. These ladies are the godesses of love, and the masters in telling stories, especially your story. They will do everything to get to know you, they will search for what lies deep in your hearts, they will take that and use it for the most important part of your weddingday: the ceremony. No, not a ceremony in front of the altar in church with a priest talking about Jesus and his apostles, but a ceremony custom made by you, for you, together with your most beloved friends and family.

    Unplugged Weddings

Fine Art Bruidsfotografie Elisabeth Van Lent - Alta Ripa Oud-Turnhout

I want to talk to you about unplugged weddings. What are they, and why do I want you to have an unplugged wedding, at least the ceremony?
‘Unplugged’ means no connection with the outside world. No cell phones, no internet, no tablets… Just you and your guests enjoying the moment. Can you even imagine that nowadays? It’s difficult, right? People seem to not be able to enjoy the moment anymore, they need to capture everything they do and see with their smartphone. So they will also try to capture you walking down the aisle, you exchanging the rings, you having your first kiss… Will you or they ever look at those pictures again? Probably not. Will these photos be great? Most likely not. Will they affect the photos taken by the professional you hired? They probably will! (more…)

      Best of 2016

Elisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Photography - Destination Wedding Italy Umbria

You know how time goes really fast? I think 2016 has broken all records in topspeed. One moment it was April, the wedding season started, the other moment I was at the end of November wondering what happened with the previous 7 months. Though I do have a lot of beautiful memories of this year! It was my first year as a fulltime wedding photographer, and even though every hour passed by like they were seconds, I enjoyed every moment very much. I have met such wonderful people, I’ve seen couples sealing their love in the most intimate and lovely ceremonies, I’ve had the opportunity to work with amazing vendors… There are downsides to all of this too. For example: I’ve eaten so much wedding cake I now have to work to lose all the extra kilos I’ve gained during the summer season. And I haven’t been home much. But as I’m now making up for that, I do think I want more of 2016 in 2017. So. 2017: bring it on! I’m ready!

        Flowers on your weddingday

Elisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding ItalyElisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding Italy

Have I told you before that I love flowers? I love making bouqets, love playing around with them. I’m not good at keeping them alive though, they actually die really quickly when they’re under my guard. That’s the main reason I became a photographer and not a florist. But I think they are essential for every wedding. Flowers are a way to show that your wedding is a day to celibrate, to make your day more festive, to bring your color theme of the wedding to life. It is an elegant way of beautifying your day, to give your probably already amazing location that last spark.Elisabeth Van Lent Fine Art Wedding Photography - Destination Wedding Italy (more…)

          Trip to Nice and Monaco

Elisabeth Van Lent Destination Fine Art Photographer - Destination Photography Villa Ephrussi de Rothschield

Whenever there’s the possibility to take some time off, I love to travel to the sun, to someplace where I can enjoy the good weather, good food, good shops (yup, still a girl behind the camera), and good company. And if possible: where I can enjoy beauty of a totally different area than that of the Netherlands and Belgium. So that is exactly what I did a few weeks ago: my love and I made a trip to Nice, where we enjoyed the sun, swam in the sea that can only be this blue at the Côte d’Azur, enjoyed shopping and eating (both my luggage and I gained 4 kilo’s), and enjoyed the amazing colors of the cities beautiful buildings.
